How to use Gilson Created Opal in your Glass Art

When creating a bead or glass ball with opal in it I suggest:
  1. Taking tile nippers and breaking up the pieces of opal in a large zip lock bag.
NOTE: if you have purchased cabochons/cut stones then you can skip this step.

  2. Then seal the end of a small tube ( I prefer 9mm heavy wall ), slide the opal down the tube to the bottom and then heat the bottom of the tube until it has been melted in.

  3. Then anneal it at 1150 to 1225 for an hour or so and leave it in the kiln cooling slowly overnight (this is an absolute must !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously!!!) Do not open the kiln for any reason during the cool down period.
